“Focused on the Goal”

The Goal is Jesus. A true disciple focuses on, pursues, and replicates a life of Goal Getting.
Worship Service 3 // Philippians 3:12-16When we realize that our salvation and our sanctification has nothing to do with us and everything to do with Jesus, we can break free from a defeated Christian life lived focused on our past and our failure and strive ahead to maturity and victory, preparing ourselves and those around us for eternity in heaven. ○ Verse 17 is a key verse on discipleship: striving for maturity includes imitating mature, healthy Christians. (Healthy disciples produce healthy disciples!)
Philippians 3:7–17 KJV 1900
7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. 8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, 9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: 10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; 11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. 12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. 16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing. 17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
What an opportunity we have in 2019 to reach more and more people in this community for the high calling in Christ Jesus.

1. The Aim

a) That I may know Him

Knowing Him more than just a

b) and the power of His resurrection

c) fellowship of sufferings

2. The Truth

Paul was honest, he realized he still needed more life change and to know Jesus more and more!
Paul said:

a) Following

b) Forgetting

Past sins
How do you go about forgetting sins?
Forgetting here means to neglect or overlook
your eyes are no longer caught up on those things.
Past successes

c) Focusing

3. The Prize

The qualifications to press on… If you want to press on
What is this “prize?”

a) the crown of Righteousness

Philippians 3:13–14 KJV 1900
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Revelation 2:10 KJV 1900
10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
1 Peter 5:4 KJV 1900
4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
